the girl gave tyler her heart to protect, he took it with him and in his absence he had her heart but she had nothing, so what torments her won because no one was there to protect her or relive her of it. and when he realized that's what's happening he asked for all the demons (what haunts her/ hurts her) to hurt him instead, because like God, he'd rather die for the people he loves than live knowing they are hurting. he wants to save the girl he loves even if it means losing his own life or battle.

To 12 year old me: it's okay to like twenty one pilots, and it's okay to think you're cringey for it. It's also okay if anyone would ever think you're cringey for it too, although no one who matters to you would ever think that. You're still a kid and that's okay and you'll become who you need to when the time comes. Just as long as you keep going, keep trying, and trust yourself to be able to make it through anything life throws your way, you'll find that everything isn't so bad. You deserve so much love and so much happiness, but for now, I'm glad you were able to find something to be so passionate about in the form of a band.
